Abstract

Introduction: Today, tourism is one of the most profitable and prosperous business fields, which unfortunately has not achieved significant success in Iran in recent years. In this regard, the participation of various stakeholders in the long-term growth and development of the tourism industry is very important and vital, and the lack of effective role-playing of the stakeholders prevents the use of capacities and capabilities. Therefore, in this research, an attempt was made to identify and explain the dimensions of stakeholders' participation in the formation of sustainable tourism policies.

Materials & Methods: The current research is developmental-applicative in terms of purpose and is among mixed research. In the qualitative phase of the research, semistructured interviews with experts and theme analysis techniques were used. The participants in this stage were 21 experts who were selected purposefully. Also, in the quantitative stage, in order to test the validity of the findings of the qualitative stage, confirmatory factor analysis method was used. For this purpose, 186 managers and experts in the field of tourism in Tehran municipality were asked for their opinions with a researcher-made questionnaire. Results: The findings of the research showed that for the participation of stakeholders in the field of shaping sustainable tourism policies, five dimensions of recognition, attraction, foundation, support and guidance and nine components were identified. Also, the results of the quantitative section showed that the identified dimensions and components are confirmed.

Conclusion: Stakeholders' participation in shaping sustainable tourism policies has multiple dimensions, as a result of which valuable results are obtained.
